Flock Yeah Tulsa!

If you are a delicate snowflake please turn around now. This is not the blog or event for you. But if you're like me, a bad ass business owner with a love for finding the REAL in every person, then you have come to the right place. Flock Yeah is an event that brings together a community of birth workers to help them strengthen friendships and grow professionally and personally together. With your people. You know the people who aren't afraid of the words placenta, fuck, and shit.  

Gena Kirby ripped open our hearts with real questions and activities that made us uncomfortable. But you know, that good kind of uncomfortable. She challenged us to cut the bullshit. 

There wasn't a whole lot of "Hi, my name is" (yes, you can sing that slim shady style) before we got to the real real. We made a new best friend and hot boxed oxytocin under rebozos like a bunch of bat-shit-crazy-birth workers. 

And then we cried, and we cussed, and we danced it out. Because we are human and we needed to. 

Joe Valley was there to drop some truth bombs about how we treat men in the birth space. Thanks for keeping us accountable Joe. You're a pretty cool dude. 

Joe is intuitive, caring, and to the point. He showed us some counselor voodoo shit. So clients, get ready for some mirroring. 

Then everyone got the pleasure of meeting my friend Missy Boudiette with YBE. I mean, who walks in a room and has people dancing one minute and sobbing the next and then tells a crazy ass joke to end one of the most intense activities of the weekend. I mean WHO DOES THAT?! Missy Mutherfucking Boudiette does. 

GUYS...... GUYS....... LINDA..... LINDA LISTEN....This workshop was not for the faint of heart, and really, if you do birth work... you're good. 

And then, what a treat it was to have HEIDI FAITH, of Stillbirthday, there to help us work through our issues by sharing her own experiences and inviting us to share with one another. When Heidi speaks, you STFU. You just do. Every. Single. Thing. That comes out of that woman's mouth has meaning and she isn't going to waste one second of your time not being her authentic self. It's impressive. 

And then, we drank. Yeah, we drank BEER. Katy Miles brought some home brew that was the perfect refreshment for all the hard work we had put in. CHEERS! 

At the end of it all, we chose a rock from outside and set our intentions for moving forward. We threw away a small piece of our bullshit baggage we carry everyday and we chose to work towards being better. A physical act to help us remember how far we have come in such a short time, 

And if you didn't think we were a bunch of crazies before. We stood together in front of a hotel and screamed out as we tossed the bullshit rocks and released those demons. (no we didn't ride brooms into the night, I wish) It felt good too. 

So what did I get out of Flock Yeah? Fellowship, friendship, growth, fun, knowledge, perspective, and love... a whole whole lot of love. Thanks Gena for coming to Tulsa and showing us a good time.
