3 Essential Oils You'll Want During Your Pregnancy

- Gabrielle T Price

You’re a parent, or a soon to be parent, and the choices for you and children are overwhelming! Do you go all natural? Do you stick with tradition? Cloth vs disposable diapers? Co-sleeping vs sleep training? The list goes on and on. But when it comes to you and your baby’s health and wellbeing, both during your pregnancy & postpartum, I want to make it a little easier. If you choose to use essential oils here are the top 3 Young Living Essential Oils I wouldn’t go without during this time and why!

First on the list is Copaiba. Growing a baby is stressful, deciding on a name is stressful, chasing around a toddler is stressful. That is where copaiba saves the day! This is the main ingredient in Young Living’s blend Stress Away and its an oil I personally don’t leave the house without. It contains 55% Beta-Caryophyllene (BCP), and if you’re not familiar with all the benefits of BCP you should check them out! Copaiba soothes and relaxes your body and mind in all the right ways. And it’s gentle enough to use on babies!  A few things Copaiba can do are:

  • Support healthy brain, vascular, and mitochondrial function
  • Support a healthy gut
  • Ease feelings of stress
  • Great for teething kiddos
  • Ease muscle tension

Next on the list is Lavender, oh sweet lavender! Lavender, is another that I don’t go anywhere without! It can do all the things! I get a lot of questions about Lavender and pregnancy and there is a lot of misinformation out there. What you need to be cautious about is an oil called Lavandin, this is NOT Lavender, but is often sold in stores as lavender and is not safe for pregnancy. However, LAVENDER, is great for you and for baby. Lavender is what I call the Swiss-Army-Knife of oils. It can be used for a wide variety of things including (and not even close to limited to) the following:

  • Ease pain caused by headaches
  • Support healing skin
  • Support bacteria free environments
  • Aid with emotional support
  • Support healthy blood pressure

My last go-to for pregnancy would have to be Gentle Baby! This is an essential oil made by Young Living and oh-my-gosh! I could live in a bottle of this bad boy. It is a blend of Coriander seed oil, Geranium, Palmarosa, Lavender, Ylang-Ylang, Roman chamomile, Bergamot, Lemon, Jasmine, and Rose. This blend I would never, ever, ever, go without if you are expecting or have a little one at home, or are human. Basically this little guy can move mountains as far as keeping a nice calm baby and mommy goes! Spray a little on your baby’s favorite blanket or lovey and you will be shocked at how quickly he/she calms down and relaxes! And if you’re sweet bundle of joy isn’t here yet, you want to be rubbing Gentle Baby all over your beautiful belly to prevent stretch marks and keep yourself nice and relaxed for this ride!

I know some choices seem impossible, but this should be easy! Essential oils are a wonderful way to go when you are limited on what you can use. They can truly do amazing things for you and your entire family!
