The Birth of Hayden Faith
I got a text on a Friday afternoon.
“Hey, It’s Malory, are you available to come for a Silas baby today?”
Some of you may not know this, but I often donate my time towards families that are faced with the impossible task of saying goodbye to their baby. The Hillcrest Silas Program was specifically created to give space for parents in the Tulsa area to do that. They offer support, tiny baby clothes, one to one nursing, and so much more to these families.
So when I got the text, and was able to come, I packed my things and headed that way. Not knowing the situation or the family I’d be meeting. All I knew was that a baby was coming, and her family wanted photos.
When I arrived, I was met with a smile from Taylor and Luke. I was amazed at how well they were doing and how happy they were to be meeting their baby girl soon. You could feel some nerves in the air but these proud parents were beaming for their daughter.
I introduced myself and immediately got to work documenting Hayden’s story. The love that she felt and the support that surrounded the family. Every birth I attend is special, but this birth was one I’ll never forget.
Attending the birth of Hayden has given me even more inspiration and love for what I do. This year especially, has shown me the importance of my work in more ways than I could have ever imagined going into it years ago.
Thank you, Tucker family, for allowing me to be a part of Hayden’s life and for trusting me with these precious few moments.
Friends, please leave a some love in the comments for this sweet family.
